North Korea renews calls for a peace treaty with...
fuckyeahunitedstates: Technically, the Korean War is still ongoing, as no formal peace treaty was ever signed. The fighting ended 58 years ago to the day with an armistice between the two sides. North Korean diplomats who are currently visiting the United States have expressed their renewed desire to formalize the peace with an official treaty. Someone link me speculative articles on...

I wouldn’t say they’re any kind of nice but they are shoes and they will do and they are good enough at working when I need them to.

“I am awfully greedy; I want everything from life. I want to be a woman and to be...”
– Simone De Beauvoir (via thechocolatebrigade) Problems I will always have, and problems I am not alone in having. Actually, I was just rereading a series of texts Andrew sent me last March, and he probably said it best: Poor guy, me, not getting all he wants because he wants it all. I’ve come...

take two.: deathly hallows [spoilers!]. →
withouttheseframes: Things I liked / loved: The opening was stunning. I thought this might have been the most artsy film since PoA. That we saw more of the night the Potter’s died. Some of the added humor, like McGoggles, and Ron when Ginny came in to the RoR and ignored him for Harry. Alan Rickman is a phenomenal human being. HELENA BONHAM CARTER, not only did she capture Bella so insanely...

F&*% YEAH, UNITED STATES: The debt ceiling →
fuckyeahunitedstates: With only 11 days remaining for Congress to raise the debt ceiling, talks in Washington are heating up. For those who don’t follow these negotiations closely, it’s sometimes hard to understand what all the hullabaloo is about. Here’s a helpful little post about the basics of the situation. What is the debt ceiling? The debt ceiling is the legal amount of money that the...

HOME FROM FLORIDA.
That was nice. But there’s no way I’m going to catch up this dashboard so you all had better just tell me if I’ve missed something important and exciting in your lives. Olrighty? Wonderful!

Any money feels like my money if I’m spending it. Which I guess could be nice, if I weren’t so conscious of wasting it everywhere.

Maybe we've got to decide whether it's more...
It’s not making any sense, but it occurred to me as I was serving ice cream, and I think the basic point is that we can either decide to make sense enough so that somebody will remember us fondly and accurately when we’re gone, or else we can live in our own heads and focus our energies on the well-being and progression of the upcoming generation; I mean, when we die, either our memory...

Me: Goodnight, Dad.
Dad: Goodnight.
Me: Sleep well.
Dad: You, too.
Me: Love you.
Dad: Love you, too.
Me: So, okay.
Dad: Okay.
Me: Bedtime.
Dad: Yes.
Me: Goodnight, then.
Dad: Yes, goodnight.
Me: What- why are you still in here?
Dad: It's impolite for me to leave a room when a woman is looking at me.
Me: I have never ever heard that rule ever.
Dad: Still.

My day's meals
have been a turkey sandwich, chips and lemon hummus, and a planet of fancy chocolates. I figure most of us religious freaks refuse to believe in evolution because we know there’s no way it should’ve answered the previous generations with us. Only my arrogance saves my knowledge of science. Thank God.
